How I did it . . .

Well before I started painting the table I had to read instructions on the internet on how to do it.  The top of this table is laminate so I didn't know for sure what would stick to it or if I could paint it.  Well they have this cool stuff call Bullseye 1-2-3.  This will let paint stick to just about anything from tile, laminate, or anything slick.

So first I decided to sand down some of the spots that needed some fixing.  Then I painted a thin layer of bullseye 1-2-3.  This is just like a primer.  Once this was dry, I used gloss oil enamel paint.  Trust me I didn't like it at first because it was too shinny.  However, after a couple of days it grew on me.  After everything is painted, they say to use two coats of polyurethane on any item you paint.  This is for cleaning purposes.  I am not going to do this until summer.  I am afraid the fumes will be too much for me to handle without having doors and windows open.

1 What did you say?:

Well, Tif, I have to say you are one smart cookie. Who ever thought you could paint that table black and have it turn out so good. I just found your blog so I read all of it. I am glad you are happy in your apartment. I need to find out just where you are? Your tree looks good and I am anxious to see your hand make ornaments. Oh, by the way, the quilt your mom made is beautiful. And, I think you have the greatest mom also. I will be waiting to read more.
